INDEPENDENCE TRAINING WITH FOCUS ON STRESS AND HEALTH
Being independent means that a person or entity can act, think, and make decisions without relying on others for guidance, support, or control. It is about having enough freedom and capability to manage various aspects of life on one's own. Independence can take different forms depending on the context.
When we face something that requires change, a process of assessment begins in our brain. This process is based on questions such as: Is it important? Can I handle it? Will I be able to use my abilities? These questions trigger various stress responses in the body. Managing these questions in the best possible way enables us to handle ourselves in challenging situations.
When there is a poor match between the demands of the environment and a person's abilities, the imbalance can be addressed in two ways: either by adapting external demands to the individual's resources, or by strengthening the individual's ability to withstand stress and external pressures.
Humans have physical, psychological, and emotional needs that collectively impact their health. It's about understanding what the body needs to thrive: ensuring we get rest, sleep, and recovery; engaging in physical activity to keep the body in motion; and avoiding anything that disrupts the body's systems. Mental and social stimulation are also essential. Together, these factors form the foundation for finding meaning in life and achieving well-being.
